Jack Marshall-Shimko (29) plans to paddle 150 miles from the historical northern Chumash burial grounds of Jalama (ghostly winds) beach directly West to San Miguel Island South to Santa Rosa Island over to Santa Cruz Island to Anacapa Island across to Malibu Point Dume and through the South Bay finishing in Santa Monica. Jack Marshall-Shimko was diagnosed with Hodgkin’Äôs Lymphoma April 23rd, 2009 and has been eager to get back in the water since then. Like cancer, he is choosing to do this major water crossing solo along with a eco support boat and crew that represents a mixture of solitude and support. All donations will go directly to the UCLA Cancer Research Center and Livestrong¬Æ to help find the cure for global cancer.obal cancer.
